LEGO Watts Beam Engine

Posted on : 14-04-2010 | By : cherexposed | In : steam vacuum reviews

My second LEGO “steam” engine run on vacuum. It’s a model of an early 19th century beam engine after James Watts design, the vacuum cleaner is running at lowest power and has no problem coping with powering the engine. I hope to get a small eletric compressor to power it instead. And before anyone asks; I built this using my head, there are no blueprints or CADs!

It looks and sounds great.
Good job.

Five words IN-STRU-CT-I-ONS

those are sylibles……

after 5 months of seen legos creations, this is the ONLY MACHINE that really reminds me how versatile are legos!!!!!!!
congratulations!!!!! realy that’s impressive!!!! you made my day hahahah
nice and clear construction!!!!

Thanks. Glad you like it.

FANTASTIC DESIGN dunno where it comes from and sounds weird but i love seing engines that are lumpy and take a bit to run and really hve lots of mechanical moving parts im guessing that valve design would be a bit faulty at high speed but not one to judge i love the whole beam design its so much bigger and different ushould refine it and see if u can get a bit more power out of it pretty good design

another comment does it produce due to th extremem momentum when u ge it actually mving if u get my meaning?

i hate how u guys do it so easy i cant build a runnig lego engine to save my life lol

could you make a video of inside the box where the vacuum hooks into?

It sounds like it’s dying horribly. BUT IT’S AWESOME.

I bet if you stopped gearing up that flywheel you could actually get some speed.

It’s a showpiece, not a workhorse.

Lol, just thought you might have wanted to get a bit more out of it. Happy building!

Yeah. Beam engines didn’t turn that fast anyhow, so it’s realistic.

you made some serius stuff there:)

Thanks. v:

you can rip the engine out that vacuum cleaner and build a lot serious thing

this is awesome by the way ^^

Wow Nice! 5* Great work!

Thanks!

Most excellent……. :)….. Check out a real james Watt beam engine in my vids

Thanks, I will.

Oh I love the sound it gives, that is brilliant.

Thanks!

That is SOOOOOO cool. You inspire people with this thing, dude!

Yeah, more people should build these.
